SCRIPT WARS: ATM GRUPA award presented

The winners of the 1st SCRIPT WARS Mazovian Script Competition have been announced. The Grand Prize went to Marcin Ciastoń for Hyacinth. Jagoda Szelc picked up second prize for The Delicate Balance of Terror. Third prize, funded by ATM GRUPA, was awarded to Piotr Tołoczko for Between.

The winners of the 1st SCRIPT WARS were announced on November 12 in Warsaw at the closing ceremony of CINEMAFORUM International Short Film Festival.

The jury panel, which comprised Leszek Bodzak, Michał Oleszczyk, Andrzej Muszyński, Olga Domżała, Anna Spisz and Ada Bogdziewicz, awarded the following prizes:

The following scripts made it to the final stage of the 1st SCRIPT WARS:

− Aleksandra Jankowska’s Anatomy,

− Agnieszka Dąbrowska’s Swamp,

− Magdalena Wiśniewolska’s Rabbi’s Curse,

− Karolina Bielawska and Małgorzata Gospodarek’s Colorful Tears,

− Emil Płoszajski and Artur Wyrzykowski’s Nutty Sweeties,

– Aleksandra Takuska’s Wild Wild East.

The finalists will be able to have their scripts consulted in Scripting Groups of the Scripting Atelier.

‘The quality of the entries was consistently high,’ said Renata Męcina (ATM GRUPA). ‘It is worth pointing out the diversity of the genres and themes explored by the authors. This led the jury to choose nine finalists.’

SCRIPT WARS is a competition for scripts for full-length feature films set in Warsaw or Mazovia. Aimed at both professionals and newcomers, the contest is held by the Mazovia Institute of Culture, the Mazovian Film Fund operator and the Mazovia Warsaw Film Commission.

SCRIPT WARS is held under the auspices of the Marshal of the Mazovian Voivodship. Event partners include the Polish Film Institute, ATM Grupa, Władysław Ślesicki Film Foundation, Script Atelier and CINEMAFORUM. SCRIPT WARS is supported by the Local Government of the Mazovian Voivodship, the Capital City of Warsaw and the Mazovian Institute of Culture.

CINEMAFORUM International Short Film Festival has been staged in Warsaw since 2002. The festival showcases the best short films from all over the world and the most interesting offerings of Polish independent cinema. It is also a platform for industry events and professional education.

Script Atelier is a year-long program of screenwriting workshops designed to help authors complete their first or second feature scripts. It is delivered by young and energetic consultants with experience and education gained in Europe and America.
