17 ATM GRUPA shows including 7 newcomers to air this fall

17 ATM GRUPA shows will air on 11 TV channels this fall, with TV series, entertainment and documentaries in the mix, including a staggering 7 newcomers, one remaining a secret for now.

A revamped version of one of the most popular game shows, Wheel of Fortune, is coming back after years of being off the air, with Rafał Brzozowski as host and Miss Polonia 2016 Izabella Krzan as co-host. Produced by TVP in association with ATM GRUPA, the show will air on TVP2 on weekdays at 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday afternoons at 2:40 p.m. from 10 September.

Another entertainment offering, a Polish version of the world-famous Drunk History will showcase facts from Polish history with an unusual and amusing twist, with popular Polish actors, celebrities and cabaret and stand-up stars cast in the main roles. Drunk History is due to premiere on Comedy Central in October.

Two other new shows are part of the fast growing segment of ATM GRUPA’s non-fiction production. This September, Canal+ Discovery will start airing For Themselves, for the World, following Poles who gave up their comfortable lives in Poland to venture abroad and do something useful for others. ATM GRUPA is preparing a real surprise for November. A spectacular production shot on another continent will debut on a channel that hasn’t run our shows yet. More details coming soon.

Lena Barska, a new drama series for TV4 that tracks the personal and professional life of the eponymous solicitor is set to debut on TV4 in October and will air weekly. The central character will be played by Izabella Bukowska.

ATM GRUPA subsidiary Studio A has created The Pawn Shop for TV PULS, starring Zbigniew Buczkowski in the lead. Viewers will follow the lives of an array of The Pawn Shop customers, including elderly people who need money to make ends meet and youngsters turning up to pawn their laptop or cell phone for a few days to get money for a party. Patrons include thieves, cops and nutty deal hunters. Each episode tells a different story, often involving a crime theme. Humor features too. The show will debut on September 4 and will then air from Mondays to Fridays at 6:20 p.m. on TV PULS.

Later this fall, Super Polsat will run Joker, a game show with a PLN 50,000 prize at stake, hosted by Krzysztof Ibisz.

The fall months will also see some long-anticipated comebacks. From October, fans of The Border will get the second season of the show. The action will pick up four years after the drama of the first season. Grzegorz Damięcki, Piotr Żurawski, Weronika Humaj and a slew of actors from behind Poland’s eastern border will join the cast. The show is set to premiere on October 15 on HBO and HBO GO.

The Lviv Girls (Studio A) is returning to TV1. The second season of the series, airing on Sunday evenings from September 3, will continue following the four central characters: Ulyana, Sveta, Olya and Polina. There will also be new characters and funny, poignant, even criminal, subplots.

Second Chance will continue on Mondays. In the fourth season of the series, Monika Borecka (Małgorzata Kożuchowska) will have to come to grips with the death of her lover, in which she will be helped by a new character played by Michał Żurawski. The directors’ team has been joined by Jan P. Matuszynski, creator of the award-winning feature film Last Family. The fourth season is slated to premiere on September 11 at 9:30 on TVN.

The Lousy World, due to return on September 6 at 8 p.m. (POLSAT), will remain on Wednesdays and feature Marian Paździoch (Ryszard Kotys). The cast will be joined by Andrzej Kłak. Agnieszka Więdłocha and Jacek Braciak will turn in guest appearances.

As has become customary, on Thursday nights viewers will be transported to the town of Sandomierz. The 18th season of Father Matthew debuted on August 31 at 8:30 p.m. on TVP 1. Dziubak’s (Bartłomiej Firlet) mother (Hanna Śleszyńska) will come to visit causing all manner of chaos, but this will be nothing compared to the fact that Father Matthew (Artur Żmijewski) will be accused of having an affair!

Plenty of criminal thrills will also be on offer in Policewomen and Policemen and The Just: Crime Unit. The shows, both airing on TV4, have greatly boosted the channel’s ratings in their time slots, enabling TV4 to effectively compete with the major channels. The success of the series is due to a successful experiment fusing the formats of scripted documentary and fiction series. The 7th season of Policewomen and Policemen is scheduled to premiere on September 4 at 7 p.m., while the 3rd season of The Just: Crime Unit will kick off on September 5 at 8 p.m. on TV4.

Likewise, there will be no shortage of drama in First Love. The daily series, which has been on for 13 years, will come back with car chases, gun fights, jumping from heights and, as always, new faces. The upcoming fall episodes will feature the likes of Edyta Herbuś, Marcin Rogacewicz and Michał Mikołajczak. The first episode after summer vacation will air on September 4 at 6 p.m. on POLSAT.

In addition, Canal+ Discovery will renew the show Success Without Borders, hosted by Tomasz Kin.

In association with ATM GRUPA, Aldentro sp z o.o. has produced a miniseries, Grześki wracają do szkoły, which follows a lovely and funny family getting back into school routine after summer vacation with the help of chocolate-covered wafer bars Grześki. The youthful enthusiasm of the father, Grzegorz, and the insatiable inquisitiveness of his son, Grześ, will unlock plenty of fun. Rafał Królikowski will portray Grzegorz with Leopold Mikienko as his son and Magdalena Stużyńska-Brauer as mother and wife. The miniseries, sponsored by Grześki brand, will air on POLSAT (5:55 p.m.) from Monday to Friday September 11−29 and on WP TV and WP Group websites from September 13 (premiere episodes at 9 a.m., repeats at 4:45 p.m.).
