“Ludzie Chudego” is a criminal comedy series following the exploits of three not-unprofessional, somewhat offbeat police officers who generate – by unfortunate coincidences – more problems than they solve.
Three Praga musketeers who are as loving to one another as they get on one another’s nerves. One moment they fall into one another’s arms, the next they put guns to one another’s heads. They certainly are ready to give their life for one another, especially when they have to save their own as their boss throws one of his tantrums after another job. They are committed cops who turn up for work even when they are ill or have personal problems. Their biggest fault (among many others) is chronic bad luck.
”Ludzie Chudego” is based on a very popular Spanish series, “Los Hombres de Paco”, optioned from Imachina International Sales, which has run in Spain since 2005. Its first episode achieved a market share of 22%.
Unlike your typical police series showing the professionalism of police officers, here cops spend most of their time hiding the mess they’ve made. Honestly, how many police units cause an important witness bodily injuries, including repeated head injuries, loss of consciousness, memory loss and leave him in a neck brace, when, say, trying to save his life?
In each episode of this new Studio A series, Chudy and his people get entangled in ever more absurd and hilarious situations (though they don’t find them funny). They are hopeless and their demotion inevitable, but their resourcefulness and intelligence always get them out of trouble. The viewers, meanwhile, who have cheered for them for 45 minutes (you can’t help but love them!), breathe a sigh of relief and wonder what kind of trouble they will get into next time.
