Sony Pictures Television Networks Central Europe to begin shooting “Znaki” (Signs), a new Polish crime series

This May, Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networs Central Europe of Poland, owner of the AXN channels, will start shooting a new series entitled “Znaki”. The show will star, e.g. Andrzej Konopka (“Róża”- Rose, “Ziarno prawdy”, “Powidoki” – Afterimage, “Pakt”), Helena Sujecka (“Chce się żyć”, “Być jak Kazimierz Deyna”, “Yuma”), Małgorzata Hajewska-Krzysztofik
(“33 sceny z życia”, “Body/Ciało”, “Atak paniki”) and Helena Englert (“Układ zamknięty”, “Barwy szczęścia”). ATM Grupa will be in charge of project completion. The 8-episode show, soon to be shot in the Polish Sowie Mountains, is scheduled to open in autumn 2018 on AXN.

In the picturesque Sowie Mountains a female student is killed. Media all over the country extensively cover the mysterious and cruel execution. Investigators pick up a number of clues, but the case is never solved. Several years pass. Then, in the very same village, another felony is committed. The officer in charge of the investigation is now commissioner Trela (Andrzej Konopka). In order to find out the truth he will have to undo the culture of silence paralysing the village. The series will be a mixture of genres combining crime story with elements of mystery and dramatic thriller.

“Znaki” is yet another local SPT production to be shot in Poland after “Zbrodnia”, “Rewir” and “Ultraviolet”.  We are always open to interesting projects and experiments. We want to test different genres. “Znaki”, being a crime mystery series, fits perfectly within that strategy – says John Rossiter, General Manager at SPT CE – We intend to invest in more original productions in the area. Poland, in this respect, is a key market for us.

The series will be directed by Jakub Miszczak (Sprawiedliwi – Wydział kryminalny, Licencja na wychowanie) and Marcin Ziębiński (Kiedy rozum śpi, Dublerzy). The authors in charge of the script are Błażej Przygodzki (Sprawiedliwi – Wydział kryminalny,  Policjantki i Policjanci, Licencja na wychowanie), Paulina Murawska (Ultraviolet, Komisarz Alex, Być jak Kazimierz Deyna), and Wojciech Miłoszewski (Wataha- The Pack, Prokurator- Prosecutor). The series is scheduled to open in autumn 2018.
